Episode 12 - Advice Column - Do as I say, not as I do
Mai Tais were involved, and are this week's cocktail! Jill didn't even do that on purpose, it was just a happy accident (much like Gina herself).
It's also the one where we give excellent advice. Well, Jill gives you excellent advice (she's "Always," after all). Gina gives you advice she got from others that has worked out (because, let's be real, she's "Never").
The Mai Tai
I did NOT even know when I chose this drink, the hallowed and storied history that it would allow us to present for you! The history of the drink is cool, too. So, there was this guy named Trader Vic who decided to showcase this delicious rum he had by adding the lime, orgeat (which is almond syrup) and orange liquor. He served it to friends who said in Tahitian “Maita’i roa a’e,” which apparently means “The best!” so he called it a Mai Tai. That ORRRRRR…. A guy named ‘Don the Beachcomber’ says Vic basically ripped off the flavor profile from his own recipe for a punch he served at his place. Either way, it’s a damn fine beverage. Also, Tricky Dick liked it and it was the official cocktail of the Nixon Administration, so there’s that. You’ll have to listen to the episode to hear how this influenced Gina’s life. #sorryNina #kindagrossforyou
