Episode 8- Treat yo’ self!
Long story short - Alone time is invaluable to parents. And Retta and Aziz Ansari were totally onto something when it came to self care.
If you'd like to share a cocktail with us while we chat, we're having an Aviation cocktail, and we learn Gillian still really, really hates gin, while Gina (gin's in her name, after all) feels guiltier and guiltier.
The Aviation Cocktail
In finding a cocktail that was gin and something not obscure, I came across one that used Creme de Violette which we had used previously in the Black Orchid. Apparently this cocktail was once all the rage, and now it’s basically obscure. I contend that it’s because it uses gin and mostly I don’t prefer gin as a spirit. Gina, on the other hand thinks gin is lovely and wondrous. She purports that a magical gin called Monkey 47, which contains 47 botanicals and doesn’t taste like soap will change my mind forever. So, with that in mind, we try this classic cocktail and maybe we will singlehandedly bring it back into fashion. That could totally happen, right?
Ingredients-
2 oz gin (we used Monkey 47)
1/2 oz lemon juice (fresh is best…always)
1/4 oz maraschino liquor (our choice was Luxardo because it had the coolest bottle)
1/2 oz Creme de Violette
Instructions-
Combine everything in the cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a glass and enjoy.
